Psychedelic movement

This movement began in the mid 1960's and had en effect on everything, especially on many aspects of popular culture. It had major influence on music and also on their style of dress, language and the way all the people spoke, literature, art and philosophy. Psychedelic was a legal drug at that time which was very popular with the youth culture. Posters for concerts such as rock tried to visually express that feeling they had when the were using drugs, feeling of tripping out. Visual motifs was including Art Nouveau-inspired curvlinear shapes, illegible band-drawn type and intense optical color vibration inspired by the pop art movement. Designers took their inspirations from Art Nouveau, Op art & Pop Art. It was associated with the youth in Europe and America by the 70's on-wards. Famous designers from that time were: Wes Wilson, Victor Moscoso, Peter Max

The end of the WWII in 1945 brought about a post-war economic boom in the U.S.During the 1960s a true youth movement emerged, seeking to create an egalitarian society free from discrimination. The movements such as The feminist movement and the Black movement are direct revolution from that.
Music festivals and concert were a big feature of the 60's, the youth of that time sought spiritual experiences through Eastern Mysticism and psychedelic drugs. Musicians of that time were Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, The Who, Janice Joplin, so that explains a lot of band posters from that time.
