Grunge 1

Grunge was the period of time happen in the 90s of which we still have the influences and still listen and develop grunge music and style. When people think about grunge they think about Nirvana. Everything from style, music, hairstyles, etc was uncertain and there were a lot of going on. Because of that design from that period was just the same. Everything was done like the people were doing it by hand, the bend posters were looking like you scratched out the typography on it with your nails, everything was thick and heavy. A lot of chaos and blurred stuffs and everything going on on the piece of design. It was easily spread and took the important place in the history.

There are a lot of designers from that movement but one of them is called the godfather of Grunge- David Carson. His technique is the most important one for this movement. Scratching, ripping, and making new kind of letter style.

Another important designer is Carlos Segura. The signature of him were fonts such as Hay Nguyen's Droplet, Harriet Goren's Morire etc.
For me the grunge is similar to Punk but in a whole lot different a bit more darker. I like the playing with typography, non settling it in the line following the grid, which was so innovative.
