Postmodernism 1

The difference between Modernism and Postmodernism is mainly that modernism as a movement tried to change the world, to create a new, better one, but postmodernism is totally opposite thing- try to accept world as it is. The postmodernism is not supporting the way the modernism movement taught people. But in some way a lot of things changed since the modernism movement, and the most important one is that everything became more easier to produce. Before it will take ages to produce some typeface whilst when postmodernism movement came it will take a less more time to do it. One of the most influential designers of this movement is David Carson.

The postmodernism had some interesting aspects. One of them is the concept of deconstruction. It was first exploaded by Jacques Derrida.

This period brought with it a lot of experimentation with architecture, fashion, graphic design, furniture etc. From the architectural aspect of experimentation it was used a lot of modern geometry. The attitude of this period was the subversive nature. One sentence was not following when it is about creating furniture, and it is the rule from the Bauhaus that Form most follow function. They were playing with everything and people are calling this period, period of funny design and breaking the rules period. Some of the influences are coming from the designers of the Punk movement, some were inspired by the torn paper collage approach, but most of them were following strict shapes of the geometry.
